New Calif. Governor’s Wife Says She Doesn’t Want to be Referred to as the First ‘Lady’

California’s newly sworn-in governor and his wife are making no effort to hide their far-left, progressive ideology. In the first days of their new administration, they’re making it abundantly clear.

First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom has decided on her Twitter account that she does not want to be referred to as the “first lady” of her state. Rather, her profile names her as the “First Partner of California.”

News outlets like CBS Los Angeles are already following suit, referring to the couple as “the new governor and first partner.” Jennifer is a feminist filmmaker, and CBS said she chose the title change in an “effort to advance gender equality.”

CBS did not explain how ignoring Jennifer’s gender advances it.

But that’s just the start. Gov. Newsom announced during his inauguration speech on Monday that California will be a “sanctuary to all who seek it,” CBS Los Angeles also reported.

He didn’t say if criminals, drug smugglers, weapons smugglers, human traffickers, and terrorists are not welcome under that decree.

“People’s lives, freedom, security, the water we drink, the air we breathe — they all hang in the balance,” the new governor also declared in reference to his support of sanctuary for illegal immigrants, making another statement that begs clarification.

Not everyone in the packed inauguration crowd in Sacramento was joyous.

Just as Gov. Newsom was about to be sworn in, a protester yelled “I object!” before shouting that "Corporal Ronil Singh's blood is on your hands!” according to Fox News.

The crowd bellowed “Gavin! Gavin!” to drown him out.

Later, the protester, Ben Bergquam, explained, "[Gov. Newsom has] already broken that oath. It was a slap in the face to every American citizen, to Ronil Singh's family in particular. Every American citizen that's been victimized by the policies that he put into place. It was the absolutely appropriate time to call him out," according to

A Mexican national who entered the U.S. illegally is accused in the shooting death of Newman Police Officer Ronil Singh. Bergquam says California’s openness to illegal aliens led to Singh’s death.

And that's not all.

Newsom, who has previously served as California’s lieutenant governor and the mayor of San Francisco, is proposing that all illegal aliens under the age of 26 be provided free health care through Medi-Cal. According to the Los Angeles Times, that plan is expected to cost a mere $250 million a year.
