Super Bowl-winning NFL quarterback Nick Foles and his wife, Tori, recently announced that they had a miscarriage while expecting their second child.

In an emotional and God-filled Instagram post, Tori Foles told the tragic story to the world.

"As several of you knew, we were about 15 weeks pregnant with our 2nd baby. Early Sunday morning after a rough couple days fighting a 'virus' of some sort, I went into sudden labor and knew something was wrong. Not long after we learned we had miscarried our baby boy," Foles wrote.

She continued: "To fully labor and deliver and even see our baby boy was a pretty devastating process. Come to find that I had contracted an infection of pneumonia in the blood. The emotions go back and forth from immense and overwhelming sadness, confusion and anger to a firm belief that God has this fully in his hands and will use this for good. We cannot always understand or explain, but we know that is true."

Foles offered her sympathy and understanding to couples who have experienced miscarriages.

"We are finally home from the hospital and recovering physically from the infection with antibiotics (already much better) as well as emotionally from this traumatic loss. This will take time," she added. "So many thanks to everyone who has reached out to us and who has been praying for us."

Nick Foles directed fans to his wife's Instagram post and referenced 2 Corinthians 12:9.

"Tori has written a beautiful heartfelt post explaining what we have gone through this last week. We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers. 2 Cor 12:9," Foles tweeted.

Here's the Bible verse that Foles is leaning on during this difficult time:

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Please join us in praying for the Foles family.
