New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat, excoriated members of his party in a video posted on social media Tuesday, telling Democrats to stop being “crybabies” and hypocrites.
Hikind mocked Democrats for their reactions to President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“What’s going on in the Democratic Party, you would think it is the end of the world; the choosing of this candidate,” he said. “Can we stop being crybabies in the Democratic Party? Can we stop whining?”
Hikind said there should be a debate before Kavanaugh is confirmed by the Senate, but reiterated the silliness of claiming the nominee is going to bring forth the "end of the world.”
“It’s outrageous; it’s crazy,” he added. “Can we in the Democratic Party stop this hypocrisy? The president is Trump. It’s not Bill or Hillary or Obama. Can we get a life in the Democratic Party and stop behaving like little children?”
The Democrat pointed out that everyone believes Kavanaugh is “qualified” to be a Supreme Court justice, even if Democrats don’t agree with some of his personal views and past rulings. He is of the “highest caliber,” he added.
“This is how our system of democracy works,” Hikind said. “Fellow members of the Democratic Party, can we grow up? Can we stop being crybabies? Can we stop complaining that it’s not fair and we’re going to stop this?”
Finally, Hikind hit Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe for claiming the “nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will threaten the lives of millions of Americans for decades to come and will morph our Supreme Court into a political arm of the right-wing Republican Party.”
“This extreme rhetoric is dangerous, and it undermines American democracy,” he said in response. “We Democrats must stop this now.
