Young socialist congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has a lot of big ideas for America. Her newest grand idea is really bringing in the laughs.
She’s proposed her idea in the past of creating government-run public banks to lend more of our taxpayers’ money — or print more — to people wanting loans as part of her socialist Green New Deal.
She appeared to be addressing that again in a video while sitting next to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.).
“We should have a not-for-profit public option for basic banking services, and we should be piloting these projects through the U.S Postal Service or in any other number of ways,” she said.
“That’s right!” Sanders piped up during her explanation.
In other words, have people go to the post office to borrow money. The hashtag #postal banking quickly went viral, and the ridicule was deafening.
