The polls have not been kind lately to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
A Hill-HarrisX poll published Friday asked voters if the young socialist “hurts the Democratic Party more than she helps it,” The Hill reported.
Only 25 percent of voters said AOC was good for the party. Ouch.
35 percent said she hurt the Democrats. That left 40 percent of people who didn’t care to even give their opinion one way or the other, even though Ocasio-Cortez is often held up as the face of the Democratic Party.
Among the Independent voters who were polled, almost two-thirds of them thought she was hurting Democrats. The poll was conducted in February.
Gallup got more people to give their opinion with a similar poll. After they asked voters if they have a favorable or unfavorable view toward Ocasio-Cortez, only 31 percent said favorable and 41 percent said unfavorable.
29 percent of respondents gave no opinion or claimed to have never heard of her before.
36 percent of voters viewed Hillary favorably about seven months ago, five percent higher than how Ocasio-Cortez was viewed in February. Double ouch.
Replying to The Hill’s poll results on Twitter, AOC seemed to think her low favorability rating was a result of a vast right-wing conspiracy, rather than her Green New Deal, among other things.
President Trump, meanwhile, has hit a 50 percent approval rating for the ninth time, according to the Washington Post.
