Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is an American superhero. At least, that’s the way the creators of a commemorative comic book want the nation to see her.
According to OcasioComic.com, a new comic book has been released featuring the young congresswoman and “the Freshman Force” with two available covers.
"It’s no secret that AOC has become the unofficial leader of the new school, and has sparked life back into Washington and that’s reflected in the enthusiasm on display by the men and women contributing to this project," said Devil's Due Publisher Josh Blaylock, according to CBR.com. "While we all don’t agree on everything, we share a common excitement for the breath of fresh air the new Congress brings. I hope this is as much a cathartic release for readers as it has been for us creators."
The comic book was met with overwhelming ridicule on social media, the Federalist Papers reported. But it’s not getting as much attention as Ocasio-Cortez suggesting on Sunday that people need to stop having kids in order to save the earth.
After telling her social media followers during a live video that the planet is headed toward disaster, she remarked, “There’s scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult. And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question: Is it OK to still have children?”
Not arguing that it is actually OK to have kids, Ocasio-Cortez said that it’s “a basic moral question” before pointing out that “there are still children here in the world, and we have a moral obligation to them.” She seemed to be suggesting that it may be immoral to have more kids because it’ll hurt the kids that are already here.
She also added that even people who want to tone down her Green New Deal are “producing watered-down proposals that are frankly going to kill us.”
“A lack of urgency is going to kill us.”
Ocasio-Cortez grew up in an era of kids being scared to death by adults about global warming and a hole in the ozone layer. She also lashed out on Sunday at Sen. Dianne Feinstein who was recently tried to calm a group of today’s terrified children, who were insisting that they were going to die if she didn’t sign onto the Green New Deal.
Ocasio-Cortez suggested that people like Feinstein had been doing a half-hearted job at tackling climate change and has been “failing at the same things for 30 to 40 years,” according to the Washington Examiner.
