Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is upset again. This time she’s suggesting that she’s the only politician in Washington, D.C. who is persecuted by the mainstream media.
Yes, you read that correctly.
It all started when the UK’s Daily Mail interviewed the young socialist congresswoman’s mother about what her daughter was like growing up. The heartwarming story concluded with a part about what Alex’s mother Bianca Ocasio-Cortez thinks of her daughter’s longtime boyfriend Riley Roberts.
After praising Riley, Bianca said, “I hope they get married soon. Although they haven't told me anything about their plans.”
The Hill focused on that last part in a story they did about the interview. Alex didn’t seem to like that one bit.
“You know, when I got to DC I was told that it’s considered ‘off-limits’ to report on a member’s family, love life, etc.,” she complained on Twitter Tuesday. “Unsure why that consideration is suspended for me.”
In parentheses she added, “Also for those who ask how I learned to handle pressure, try being the only daughter in a Latino household.”
Alex’ Twitter followers were quick to point out a few things to her.
The other day, Alex claimed that people think she’s just a “pretty idiot” because “the idea that a woman can be as powerful as a man is something that our society can’t deal with. But I am as powerful as a man and it drives them crazy,” according to The New Yorker.
