Pence Praises Pro-Life ‘Unplanned’ Movie as Fans Bash Twitter for Hurting It

Disney was hoping for a blockbuster opening for their live-action “Dumbo” remake.

But they hadn’t planned on so many people heading to theaters to watch a pro-life movie instead.

“Dumbo” didn’t debut with even half the revenue of other live-action Disney remakes like “Jungle Book,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Alice in Wonderland,” according to Fox News. Pure Flix’ faith-based “Unplanned” film, on the other hand, is already a smashing success even with a limited theater release.

Vice President Mike Pence praised the film, which follows the real-life journey of Abby Johnson, a young Planned Parenthood clinic director who became a pro-life activist.

“So good to see movie theaters across the country showing @UnplannedMovie — a deeply inspiring new pro-life film based on the best-selling book by @AbbyJohnson,” Pence wrote on Twitter. “More & more Americans are embracing the sanctity of life because of powerful stories like this one.”

But one unexpected thing may have hurt the movie’s ability to be even more popular when it initially opened: Twitter.

The Daily Wire reported late Sunday that thousands of people were unable to follow the movie’s Twitter account. Actress Patricia Heaton complained in a tweet directed at Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. She reported later the problem had been fixed.

LiveAction president Lila Rose complained, too, after she said the “Unplanned” movie’s Twitter account suddenly lost almost 150,000 followers.

Twitter told the Daily Caller News Foundation that one of their automated systems accidentally banned the Twitter account for the movie. It happened to occur on the movie’s opening weekend.

The company insisted that were not intentionally suppressing the pro-life movie. Watch the official trailer for the movie below:
