A petition has been launched to impeach Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for allegedly violating the law. So far, it has already earned over 319,000 signatures.
At issue is Tlaib’s actual address when she ran for the congressional seat she now occupies – and she may have broken Michigan law.
The petition claims Tlaib “lied about living in Detroit using her fathers house address .. she never lived there .. she lived in Dearborn .. her father has verified this.”
The petition continues: “We also demand a full investigation and recount of every vote that she supposedly received .. we also demand a full list of all campaign contributions and who donated to her because she has publicly displayed affiliations with extremist organizations on her social media accounts .. her words and actions are unprofessional to say the least using profanity and hate filled rhetoric against our country our citizens and our president.”
Big League Politics reports that Tlaib could be in some serious trouble if she lied about her address to run for Congress.
“Michigan law maintains that state representatives must live in the district they represent, and federal law holds that a person who lies about their address on voter registration forms can be prosecuted,” the report states.
President Donald Trump had not commented on the effort to impeach Tlaib as of Sunday night.
After her election, Tlaib quickly made a name for herself as one of the most radical far-left Democrats in Congress.
She infamously proclaimed Democrats were going to “impeach this motherf****r,” referring to President Donald Trump. The Democrat has also associated with radical anti-Semitic figures like Linda Sarsour and demonized Israel.
Most recently, Tlaib claimed thinking about the Holocaust gave her a "calming feeling" because Palestinians were the ones who had to rescue the Jews, a claim that was thoroughly debunked by historians.
Trump blasted her display of "hatred" toward Israel and the Jewish people.
"Democrat Rep. Tlaib is being slammed for her horrible and highly insensitive statement on the Holocaust," Trump tweeted. "She obviously has tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. Can you imagine what would happen if I ever said what she said, and says?"
