New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made a shocking statement at a speech meant to encourage the women of New York.
“We’re not going to make America great again,” declared Cuomo, to the surprise of the audience. “It was never that great.”
Hear him say it for yourself in the video below.
“We have not reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged,” Cuomo continued. “We will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping against women, 51 percent of our population, is gone and every woman’s full potential is realized, unleashed, and every woman is making her full contribution.”
Of course, this statement caught the attention of the creator of the whole “Make America Great Again” movement, President Donald Trump.
As usual, President Trump went to his Twitter account to unleash a firestorm of presidential fury at Gov. Cuomo for his unpatriotic statement.
“‘WE’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, IT WAS NEVER THAT GREAT.’ Can you believe this is the Governor of the Highest Taxed State in the U.S., Andrew Cuomo, having a total meltdown!” wrote President Trump.
“When a politician admits that ‘We’re not going to make America great again,’ there doesn’t seem to be much reason to ever vote for him. This could be a career-threatening statement by Andrew Cuomo, with many wanting him to resign-he will get higher ratings than his brother Chris!” Trump continued.
“How does a politician, Cuomo, known for pushing people and businesses out of his state, not to mention having the highest taxes in the U.S., survive making the statement, WE’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, IT WAS NEVER THAT GREAT? Which section of the sentence is worse?” Trump asked.
“Wow! Big pushback on Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York for his really dumb statement about America’s lack of greatness. I have already MADE America Great Again, just look at the markets, jobs, military- setting records, and we will do even better. Andrew “choked” badly, mistake!” said Trump, concluding his scathing response to Gov. Cuomo.
Gov. Cuomo attempted a weak response to President Trump, using the typical “racist” and “sexist” line every Democrat knows by heart by now.
Cuomo even backtracked on his “never great” statement by saying “America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality. America has not yet reached its maximum potential.”
In other words, America is great because it is not great.
Good luck trying to make sense of that explanation.
