The highly anticipated pro-life movie “Unplanned” is making a splash in theaters and has wildly outperformed box office expectations so far.
The film, which tells the story of former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life activist Abby Johnson, has already earned over $6 million over the weekend. The movie was expected to bring in half of that over its entire run.
Just how well is “Unplanned” performing? The pro-life flick has made roughly $5,770 per screen, which is a better average than even Marvel’s multimillion blockbuster “Captain Marvel.”
This all happened despite the numerous obstacles placed in its way by Hollywood and social media companies.
People were outraged when “Unplanned” received an “R” rating from the MPAA, despite there being no graphic content.
Then, right before opening weekend, Twitter abruptly suspended the official movie account.
“Still waiting for an explanation as to why @Twitter inexplicably suspended our account,” the account tweeted. “I think we all know why. Perhaps it's because we are moving the needle, making a difference and changing hearts and minds with #UnPlannedMovie."
In a statement to The Daily Wire, the real Abby Johnson reacted with joy at the success of the movie. She gives all the glory to God.
“Look what God has done. I could not be more thrilled with the debut of Unplanned,” she said. “The reports of healing and conversation nationwide are edifying and encouraging. My inbox is filled with stories of post-abortive women who are finding healing through this film as well as pro-choice people who have started to question their beliefs.”
