You would think Rachel Dolezal would be a hero of liberals. She’s not comfortable with being white, she was the president of an NAACP chapter, she sued Harvard for alleged discrimination, and she just announced on Twitter that she’s part of the LGBT community.
But she’s receiving a whole lot of hate for that last part...and from liberals.
Why? Because she’s been living life as a black woman even though she was born white. To liberals who say they want people to express who they really feel they are inside, identifying as a different race is — apparently — an egregious sin.
Dolezal identified as bisexual during an interview with Spokane Faith and Values in 2014 when she was the president of the Spokane, Washington NAACP. But that part of her identity wasn’t well known until she broadcasted it on Twitter Saturday in honor of Pride Month.
“Just wanted to take a moment to recognize Pride Month 🌈 I am in absolutely no rush to explore a new relationship, but it still matters to stay visible. I am bisexual. #pride #bisexual,” she wrote with a screenshot of a longer Instagram post defender herself as a legitimate member of the LGBT community and explaining that she’s celibate.
But fellow liberals and supporters of homosexuality blasted her mercilessly. If they had been conservatives, what they said would likely have been labeled as “hate.”
