A shocking report is coming out of the El Paso, Texas, the border hometown of Democratic presidential candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, who famously said, “We don’t need a wall.”
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents have been reportedly letting illegal aliens fly without photo identification, even though the other passengers are required to show it.
According to KFOX 14, U.S. Border Patrol agents said they’ve seen TSA agents allow illegal immigrants to be escorted around security checkpoints and X-ray machines while other passengers looked on.
National Border Patrol Council Vice President Shawn Moran explained, "Late last week, we were told by border patrol agents in Laredo, Texas that they had observed TSA accepting I-862 notice to appear in court documents from illegal aliens who had just been released from border patrol custody, and allowing them to fly."
"A couple of days ago, we found out the same type of situation was occurring in El Paso, Texas at their airport,” he continued. "We did receive reports that in El Paso, illegal aliens were walked around security, much to the dismay of U.S. citizens who were standing in line waiting to be screened. We heard it directly from border patrol agents who notified the union that this activity was happening."
TSA was formed after the 9/11 attacks, and the photo ID requirement was put in place to help prevent terrorists and other dangerous individuals from getting on planes. According to the official TSA website, passengers can still get aboard without photo IDs if they go through a rigorous identity verification process and additional security screening.
Moran explained that an illegal alien presenting an I-862 document doesn’t cut it.
"These documents are easily reproduced on any type of copier or home computer, they have no photographs, so there's really no way to verify that the person holding them is actually who they say they are," he said. "We're just concerned that the commercial transportation system could be exploited by somebody claiming to be another person."
The TSA has denied that they’re letting illegal aliens board planes without photo IDs, but Moran said, "I don't think they're telling the truth."
"Our agents are sworn law enforcement officers and have said they are willing to go on the record and testify before Congress if we need to in any type of investigation,” he added. “I think the TSA is trying to sweep this under the rug because they realize they've made a grave mistake."
Passengers at El Paso International Airport who learned about the allegations were shocked and concerned.
O’Rourke, who has made border security part of his presidential platform, has a very different view of how to keep our country safe than many Americans do.
After telling late-night host Stephen Colbert that “We don’t need walls,” according to RealClearPolitics, the then-prospective presidential candidate was asked if he would get rid of the existing wall between El Paso and Mexico.
"Yes, absolutely. I'd take the wall down," he replied, according to CNN.
Beto is polling at only 3.9 percent among potential Democratic voters, according to RealClearPolitics’ roundup of major polls.
