An MSNBC reporter got an on-air surprise when a Hispanic voter revealed the migrant caravan makes him want to “vote Republican.”
Judging by her reaction, it was not the answer she was expecting.
“I do believe that if somebody wants to live in the United States, they should go through the official process,” Rob Gutierrez said. “And so as a result, I tend to ally myself with people who agree with that.”
That’s when the reporter attempted to play on his emotions.
“When you see images like the migrant caravan and President Trump talking about the caravan, does that motivate you to want to vote in a certain way?” she asked.
“Yes, it makes me want to vote Republican,” Gutierrez responded.
Watch the video below:
President Donald Trump has authorized the Pentagon to send 5,200 active duty U.S. troops to the border to stop the thousands-strong migrant caravan from entering the country illegally. The president has vowed to do whatever it takes to protect the nation.
"Many Gang Members and some very bad people are mixed into the Caravan heading to our Southern Border. Please go back, you will not be admitted into the United States unless you go through the legal process," Trump tweeted on Monday. "This is an invasion of our Country and our Military is waiting for you!"
In another tweet, Trump wrote, "To those in the Caravan, turnaround, we are not letting people into the United States illegally. Go back to your Country and if you want, apply for citizenship like millions of others are doing!"
That's a pretty clear message.
