Reporters in the briefing room reportedly let out audible gasps when White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed that President Donald Trump is considering pulling the security clearances of fired FBI Director James Comey and other former officials.
When a reporter asked Sanders whether Trump’s decision to consider pulling the security clearances was “presidential,” Sanders didn’t hold back in her response.
"The president is exploring these mechanisms to remove security clearance because they’ve politicized and, in some cases, actually monetized their public service and their security clearances," Sanders said. "And making baseless accusations of improper contact with Russia or being influenced by Russia against the president is extremely inappropriate."
She continued, "The president contends that the fact that people with security clearances are making these baseless charges provides inappropriate legitimacy to accusations with zero evidence."

The reporter then accused President Donald Trump of trying to clamp down on free speech he didn't "like."
"No, I think you are creating your own story there," Sanders shot back. "The president doesn’t like the fact that people are politicizing agencies and departments that are specifically meant to not be political and not meant to be monetized off of security clearance."

Do you think Trump should strip security clearances from Comey and the other officials?
