The mainstream media is going to bat big-time for the Democrats, trying to help them prove that President Trump’s proposed border wall would be ineffective and useless.
Thursday morning, NBC News suggested that Trump’s steel wall could be sliced through easily with a “household saw.” Then it was revealed that it took “multiple industrial tools” to get through a prototype of the wall.
Then CNN’s Jim Acosta went to the southern border in Texas to try to prove that there is no humanitarian crisis, as Trump claims, at the border.
“Here are some of the steel slats the president has been talking about, right here,” Acosta said, patting the solid barrier. “As we’re walking along here, we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger. There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence here in the McAllen, Texas area.”
“No sign of the national emergency that the president has been talking about,” he continued. “As a matter of fact, it’s quite tranquil down here.”
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh pointed something out about that video on Thursday, telling his national audience, “This clown does not realize that he is making the case for a wall!”
“The reason that there aren’t any illegals and the reason there isn’t a crisis is because there’s a steel slat wall, and he’s standing right next to it!” he continued. “No one is there because there is a wall there! They’re going elsewhere to cross the border because there’s a wall there. And there are people at the wall guarding it.”
“But this clown thinks that he’s proving there’s no crisis by standing next to a wall and saying, ‘See? There’s nothing happening here. There’s no national emergency. No one’s here,’” he added.
Rush then said, “This is kind of like Yogi Berra talking about the most popular restaurant in town, ‘Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.’ What do you mean, nobody goes there, it’s too crowded? This is just priceless.”
“This is classic,” the talk show host concluded. “He thinks he’s so much smarter than Trump. He’s so much smarter than anybody else and he’s standing there essentially making the case for a wall by pointing out there isn’t anybody at this wall and therefore there isn’t any national emergency. Translation: ‘Trump’s so full of it and I’m down here very intelligently proving it.’”
Many people replying to Acosta’s video on Twitter pointed out the same thing:
