During his national radio talk show on Monday, conservative host Rush Limbaugh explained why Democrats are letting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) lead the party — and just how ludicrous that is.
After quoting a school teacher who said that the 29-year-old congresswoman “sounds like every junior high student” she’s ever had, Rush pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez “routinely demonstrates her ignorance.” And she gets away with it because “she has nobody that pushes back on her.”
“There’s no pressure for this woman to mature,” he continued. “There is no pressure for her to grow up.”
“She’s out there using this junior high school student voice proclaiming all kinds of dire circumstances,” Rush said. “It really is like listening to a child.”
He then compared her to the terrified young school children who recently confronted Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), demanding she sign onto Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal lest they all die in just over a decade from now. The liberal senator calmly and rationally explained to the children that the Green New Deal is completely unaffordable and gave them a basic civics lesson in how bills get passed in Congress.
She kept being interrupted, though, by the students and their chaperones who continued reciting memorized lines and insisting that the world was going to end in 12 years if Feinstein didn’t vote in favor of the Green New Deal.
“I don’t think Cortez is any different than them,” Rush observed. “And they walk in there, these little 11-year-olds, and they’re confrontational as they can be.”
“They just walked in on a mission,” he continued. “They have been programmed by a bunch of adults to go in there and give Dianne Feinstein what-for, and they did it. And they could not, when she engaged them in conversation, they couldn’t explain why they thought what they thought. They’re 11. They couldn’t explain a thing. They were just repeating slogans. And whenever they were stumped, which was practically with every response, here came another slogan.”
“I think it’s almost the same with Cortez.”
“The thing about all this is, regardless of Cortez’s ignorance and her just blatantly being wrong about practically everything she is passionate about, there’s nobody on the side of reason who can combat her ideas,” Rush continued, addressing the Democratic Party.
“Her ideas take off because there’s nobody willing to say, ‘You don’t know what you’re talking about. Be quiet, come back when you grow up,’” he concluded.
