White House press secretary Sarah Sanders got into a tough exchange with reporters over President Donald Trump’s immigration policy on Monday, taking a shot at former President Barack Obama in the process.
In response to Trump advocating for an expedited illegal immigration process, one reporter asked Sanders, "What is this administration planning to do to make it so you don't have to see a judge?”
Sanders argued there is already precedent for the “expedited removal” of illegal immigrants who break the law, but added those seeking asylum would not be affected.
"The president has laid out what he would like to see. We’ve put out the things that we want to see in an immigration package, months ago,” Sanders added. “We’re still waiting on Congress to give us the ability to do that.”
Still, the reporter continued to press Sanders.
"So unless Congress acts, nothing is actually going to change,” the reporter continued. “The administration is not changing anything right now when it comes to judges?”
"You mean, are we walking around making up laws? No, because we’re not the Obama Administration. We’re enforcing the laws on the books,” Sanders shot back. “We’re asking Congress to do their part in the process and pass new legislation that will fix our immigration system.”

President Trump has been vocal about criticizing Democrats for refusing to work with Republicans to pass immigration reform.
"We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents," Trump recently tweeted.
He added, "Our Immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years! Immigration must be based on merit - we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!"
