Sen. Ted Cruz poked fun at former president Bill Clinton on Thursday at the annual Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority luncheon. Cruz started by saying that Bill Clinton’s book tour “is going well.”
The jab references Clinton’s book tour with co-author James Patterson for their fictional thriller.
Part of the media tour was an interview with NBC’s Craig Melvin. During the interview, Melvin grilled Clinton about the #MeToo movement and the Monica Lewinski scandal.
Clinton stated that he didn’t owe Monica Lewinsky an apology. “I do not. I have never talked to her,” said Clinton. “But I did say publicly on more than one occasion that I was sorry.”
Clinton later backtracked on his comments saying, “I got hot under the way that the questions were asked the collar because of the way that the questions were asked.”
Ted Cruz took the opportunity to pile on the disaster that is Clinton’s book tour. “By the way, his recent media tour is going well,” he said.
“We might actually want to pay Hillary to go on one,” he continued. “If we could get Hillary to go to swing states between now and November, perhaps every day, that would be really really good.”
“There might be some voters left that she hasn’t insulted yet.”
Cruz also addressed the number of victories by the GOP over the past year and a half such as the tax cuts and the US Embassy in Jerusalem.
Cruz went on to say that despite the repeal of the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act, the overall repeal of Obamacare is the “biggest unfinished promise Republicans have.”
“That was one of the things that led Bill Clinton to describe Obamacare as ‘the craziest thing in the world,’” said Cruz, leading into his Clinton roast.
