The Department of Justice released Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report on his Russia investigation on Thursday, ending the question of whether President Donald Trump “colluded” with Russia once and for all.
While the report clears Trump working with Russia to interfere in the 2016 election, top Democrats were having a hard time accepting the reality.
“AG Barr has confirmed the staggering partisan effort by the Trump Admin to spin public’s view of the #MuellerReport – complete with acknowledgment that the Trump team received a sneak preview. It’s more urgent than ever that Special Counsel Mueller testify before Congress,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tweeted.
Pelosi also released a joint statement with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) claiming that Barr misrepresented Mueller’s findings.
Instead of claiming “collusion,” Democrats are now going all in on “obstruction of justice.” They just can’t let it go.
“The differences are stark between what Attorney General Barr said on obstruction and what Special Counsel Mueller said on obstruction,” the statement said. “As we continue to review the report, one thing is clear: Attorney General Barr presented a conclusion that the president did not obstruct justice while Mueller’s report appears to undercut that finding.”
2020 presidential candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) went as far as to demand the resignation of Attorney General Barr. For what? That wasn’t entirely clear.
"He has proved that he’s an embedded Trump ally,” Swalwell said.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is very real, apparently.
