A top President Trump official has a shocking new claim about why Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, is bashing the president non-stop at this week’s congressional hearings.
Cohen has called Trump everything from a conman to a racist, despite a report that he was planning to write a favorable book about him last year.
But Department of Housing and Urban Development official Lynne Patton says there’s a solid reason behind Cohen’s betrayal. She posted about it on Facebook in January, but it was rediscovered on Friday.
After saying that she and Cohen used to be considered best friends and were “virtually inseparable,” Patton claimed that “I can personally confirm that the ONLY reason Michael Cohen ‘turned on’ the President of the United States is because Mueller threatened to throw his wife in jail for up to 30 years.”
Robert Mueller is the Special Counsel in charge of an investigation that is supposed to prove or disprove Russian collusion in Trump’s presidential victory, but it has cast such a large net and gone on for so long that it appears to many to be an attempt to dig up dirt on Trump or anyone associated with him in order to damage or destroy his presidency.
Cohen’s wife Laura Shusterman, Patton explained, “is the co-guarantor of a $20M personal loan that Mueller discovered Michael secured back in 2015 by falsely inflating the value of his taxi medallions — effectively making her part & parcel to the federal charge of ‘Making False Statements to a Financial Institution,’ to which Cohen ultimately plead guilty.”
“This is also the reason why Cohen’s longtime taxi medallion partner, Evgeny ‘Gene’ Freidman, was granted immunity,” she added.
Patton went on at length, commenting on numerous aspects of the Cohen investigation.
Trump mentioned Shusterman in a tweet in December when he wrote: “He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself and get his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free.”
“Feel free to call me either the dumbest loyalist on the face of the earth, or the poorest member of their inner circle,” Patton concluded. “I, on the other hand, simply choose to call myself a NORMAL FRIEND.”
She was referring to the betrayals by both Cohen and their former mutual friend, presidential assistant Omarosa Manigault Newman.
