U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe used to be known for her outspoken displays of patriotism. But then she decided to follow the lead of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and protest the national anthem as a way of protesting President Trump.

"I'll probably never put my hand over my heart. I'll probably never sing the national anthem again," she said, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Now she ignores the anthem when it's played on the field, and she says that makes her “a walking protest.” She is currently competing in the Women’s World Cup, gaining her extra notice.

Her actions certainly caught Trump’s attention, who said “no” when asked if he thought protesting during the national anthem was appropriate. He did praise the whole team, calling them “really talented,” according to CBS News.

After Trump criticized her protest, Rapinoe said, “I’m not going to the [expletive] White House” when asked if she would go there if invited after her team wins the World Cup, Fox News.

“No. I’m not going to the White House,” she added. “We’re not going to be invited... I doubt it."

Trump fired back on Twitter Wednesday, writing, “Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is ‘not going to the F...ing White House if we win.’ Other than the NBA, which now refuses to call owners, owners (please explain that I just got Criminal Justice Reform passed, Black unemployment is at the lowest level in our Country’s history, and the poverty index is also best number EVER), leagues and teams love coming to the White House.”

“I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS!” he pointed out. “Finish the job!”

And then he said she’d be invited whether she liked or not, writing, “We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose.”

“Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team,” he concluded. “Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”
