First Lady Melania Trump had emergency surgery at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last week for a benign embolism in her kidney.
While she was at the hospital, President Trump visited her multiple times. We now know that he visited more than just his wife at Walter Reed.
Dan Scavino, one of Trump’s social media assistants, shared on Twitter photos of Trump giving a tour of the White House to injured veterans he met at the hospital.
“Last week after visiting FLOTUS Melania, POTUS Trump went to visit wounded heroes at Walter Reed Medical Center,” said Scavino in the post. “He told them that when they got out, to come visit him at the White House anytime. Yesterday, prior to departing for NY, he welcomed and met with them in the Oval…”
The First Lady recovered from her successful surgery and tweeted out her thanks to the team of doctors at Walter Reed.
“A sincere thank you to Walter Reed Medical Unit at Walter Reed Bethesda and to all who have sent good wishes and prayers,” she wrote. “I am feeling great and look forward to getting back home at the White House soon.”
Melania also posted a tweet thanking Medal of Honor recipient and former Navy SEAL Britt Slabinski, who was honored with the award on Thursday.
“Thank you Master Chief Slabinski for your heroic actions. POTUS and I are proud to have you at the White House today to award the Medal of Honor,” she wrote. “Thank you and thank you to all our military who risk and sacrifice your lives for our freedom.”
