Trump Makes Surprise Stop on Way Home From Singapore, Shows Where His Loyalties Lie

President Donald Trump is making a pair of surprise visits on his way home from his historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore — and it shows just where his loyalties lie.

Trump will stop at two military bases in Guam and Hawaii to meet with service members as commander in chief, according to the Associated Press.

Though he’s surely exhausted from his Singapore trip, President Trump will arrive at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam at 3: 10 a.m. on Wednesday. He will depart at 4:40 a.m. and head to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.

Trump showing his respect for America’s military is nothing new. In fact, he’s made it a habit.

Like the time he did this:

And this:

God bless America and the U.S. military.

It will be Trump’s first visit to Guam since he took office. In August of 2017, Trump assured Guam Gov. Eddie Calvo that the U.S. is behind Guam amid the territory’s tensions with North Korea.

However, Trump’s upcoming visit will be under very different circumstances. The president just signed a historic agreement with North Korea in which both nations agreed to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. The U.S. has conceded some security provisions, including the halting of joint military exercises with South Korea.

“Heading back home from Singapore after a truly amazing visit. Great progress was made on the denuclearization of North Korea,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday. “Hostages are back home, will be getting the remains of our great heroes back to their families, no missiles shot, no research happening, sites closing."

He added, "Got along great with Kim Jong-un who wants to see wonderful things for his country. As I said earlier today: Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace!"

Both countries now wait to see if lasting peace can be achieved.
