Just days before the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, President Donald Trump dropped a surprise on the liberal media.
Trump has reportedly ordered officials in his administration to boycott the media’s fancy dinner.
“While most Americans may care little about a gala dinner in the nation’s capital, Trump’s move, which two White House officials confirmed to POLITICO, is an acid gesture to a Washington media establishment that spends months planning for the dinner and carefully planning and allocating coveted invites to the event,” Politico reported.
The report added: “It may also please his political base, much of which Trump has convinced that the media is ‘the enemy of the people.’”
Trump also spent Tuesday morning letting America know exactly how he feels about the media.
“Sorry to say but @foxandfriends is by far the best of the morning political shows on television. It rightfully has BY FAR the highest ratings, not even close,” Trump tweeted. “Morning Psycho (Joe), who helped get me elected in 2016 by having me on (free) all the time, has nosedived, too Angry… Dumb and Sick.”
He continued: “A really bad show with low ratings - and will only get worse. CNN has been a proven and long term ratings and beyond disaster. In fact, it rewarded Chris Cuomo with a now unsuccessful prime time slot, despite his massive failure in the morning. Only on CNN!”
The media has historically used the WHCD to mingle with celebrities and political elites. President Trump has ignored the event for years, and instead visited real Americans for events.
This year, President Trump will be in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for a massive rally.
This is what real leadership looks like.
