President Donald Trump said Friday he would spend hours shaking the hands of every single U.S. Naval Academy graduate following his commencement speech, a monumental gesture from the commander in chief.

Speaking in Annapolis, Maryland, on Friday, Trump told over 1,100 graduates he was given the option to simply wave and leave. That’s not what he chose to do.

“I was given an option. I could make this commencement address, which is a great honor for me, and immediately leave and wave goodbye,” he said. “Or I could stay and shake hands with just the top 100. Or I could stay for hours and shake hands with 1,100 and something. What should I do? What should I do?”

The crowd erupted in cheers and chants of “stay!”

“Stay,” the president confirmed. “I’ll stay, I’ll stay.”

During his commencement address, Trump declared he will not “apologize for America.”

“We are going to stand up for America. No more apologies,” he said. “We are going to stand up for our citizens. We are going to stand up for our values. And we are going to stand up for our men and women in uniform.”

Amen.
