President Donald Trump literally walked out of a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer on Wednesday when they refused to negotiate on the border wall.
In trademark Trump fashion, the president immediately took to Twitter to tell the American people exactly what happened.
“Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time,” Trump tweeted.
He continued: “I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!”
Schumer told reporters after the meeting that Trump threw a "tantrum."
"We saw a temper tantrum because he couldn't get his way, and he just walked out of the meeting,” Schumer said.
However, it seems Trump walked out of the meeting after Schumer demanded that the president reopen the government without offering anything at all in return.
When the Democrats said they would not support any funding for the border wall, Trump reportedly responded, “Then we have nothing to talk about.”
It seems that Trump is playing hard ball with pro-illegal immigration Democrats amid the government shutdown. Trump is asking Congress to approve $5.7 billion in funding for a border wall and additional border security measures.
Should Trump stand firm in the border wall fight with Democrats?
