The Inspector General’s report that was released on Thursday keeps making waves in Washington. A reporter from Politico, Kyle Cheney, confirmed that former FBI Directory James Comey used a private Gmail account to conduct FBI business
“IG found that on numerous occasions, Comey used a personal Gmail account to conduct official FBI business, according to a source briefed on the report,” said Cheney.
The section of the report that revealed this information stated the following: “We identified numerous instances in which Comey used a personal email account (a Gmail account) to conduct FBI business”
“We cite five examples of such use in this section and include information provided by Comey and Rybicki about Comey’s use of a personal email account.”
It boils down to the fact that James Comey was investigating Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server and was, in fact, using a private Gmail account during the same time period. No wonder the Ex-FBI Director claimed "no reasonable prosecutor" would bring a case against Clinton for her use of emails. Had he suggested charges be brought against Hillary, he would have been setting himself up for prosecution.
