During his historic summit with Kim Jong Un in Singapore, President Donald Trump reportedly showed the North Korean dictator a video imagining what the future of a denuclearized Pyongyang could look like in an effort to strike an agreement.
Trump reportedly pulled out his iPad and showed Jong Un the video, which comes off like a movie trailer.
Watch the video below:
“A new story, a new beginning. One of peace. Two men, two leaders, one destiny. A story about a special moment in time, when a man is presented with one chance that may never be repeated,” the video’s narrator says. “What will he choose? To show vision and leadership? Or not?”
The video concludes with the line, “One moment, one choice, what if? The future remains to be written.”
It’s unclear how much of an impact the video had on Jong Un, though the men did ultimately end up signing an agreement vowing to work toward the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. In exchange, Trump "committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK," including halting joint military exercises with South Korea.
"President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.–DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula," a joint statement said.
So far, the deal is considered to be mostly symbolic without any guarantees, though negotiations are ongoing.
Join us in praying for peace!
