Failed Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke took a stand in favor of illegal immigration during a rally in El Paso, Texas, on Monday night.

"Walls do not save lives. Walls end lives,” he proclaimed to a small crowd.

He seemed to be unaware of the irony all around him.

You see, Beto was surrounded by barriers, fences, and law enforcement. The path to the Democrat certainly could not be seen as an “open border.”

People on Twitter were quick to notice.

At one point, Beto even had to talk to his fans from behind a large chain-link fence that protected him.

Now that’s just embarrassing.

Beto’s rally was intended to counter President Donald Trump’s rally, which took place nearby.

However, Trump’s massive rally overshadowed the Democrat’s attempt to steal the spotlight.

The music at Trump’s rally could be heard all the way over at the Beto rally.
