Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) had an embarrassing moment during a U.S. Senate debate in Massachusetts on Tuesday when she was caught off guard about an ethics complaint that has been filed against her.

Warren is accused of fundraising off of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation vote, a potential violation of the law. Kavanaugh was ultimately confirmed and is now a Supreme Court justice.

Her opponent, Republican Geoff Diehl, was quick to highlight the Democrat’s ethics problem.

"Senator Warren was fundraising illegally using the vote on Justice Kavanaugh, the confirmation vote, to try to raise money for her campaigns," Diehl said.

Warren attempted to deflect Diehl’s line of attack, instead blasting the Republican for not criticizing President Donald Trump’s treatment of Kavanaugh accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

However, the moderators didn’t let Warren skate without addressing the issue.

"I would like to drill down on what Representative Diehl said,” a moderator said. “The fundraising while the vote was being taken on the Kavanaugh hearing — did you or did you not do that?”

"Actually, I don’t know,” Warren responded, stunning the debate audience.

When another moderator informed her than an ethics complaint has been formally filed, Warren again insisted she didn’t know about it.

"Then, then I will, I will check into it — but I don’t know," Warren shot back.

That was uncomfortable just to watch.
