The media reacted in outrage on Thursday after President Donald Trump sent them scrambling to get to the White House for a surprise press briefing on the border wall and then declined to take a single question.
"I have never had so much support as I had in the last week over my stance for border security, for border control and for frankly the wall or the barrier," Trump said.
Trump also invited several Border Patrol officials to explain to the media that border walls really do work.
“You hear a lot of talk from experts that say that walls don’t work. I promise you that if you actually interview border patrol agents they’ll tell you that walls work,” Trump said.
He repeated his trademark line: “Without a wall, you cannot have border security.”
Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd threw his support behind President Trump and his efforts to fund the wall.
“Anywhere that you look where we have built walls—they have worked. They have been an absolute necessity for Border Patrol agents in securing the border,” he said.
After making them listen to why America needs a border wall for roughly 10 minutes, Trump exited the room and declined to take any questions. This sent some reporters over the edge.
“Are you taking any questions?” one reporter shouted.
“Are you not taking any questions at all?” another reporter yelled.
Yet another journalist chimed in: “The point of a briefing room is to take questions!”
Trump sure knows how to rile up the media.
