Liberal co-hosts on “The View” displayed their selective memory again on Tuesday by claiming that the Obama presidency was “completely scandal-free.” That remark got quite a reaction from Republican co-host Meghan McCain.
Republican co-host Abby Huntsman was addressing a report from a whistleblower who claimed that 25 people were given White House despite being initially rejected by the Personnel Security Office for “serious disqualifying issues,” CBS News reported.
“My issue is the hypocrisy right now,” Huntsman said. “I hate hypocrisy in politics, and if this were on the other foot, if this were the Obama Administration, and there were 25 officials that had been denied, or had said, ‘We have concerns,’ and they still got overridden, this would be the top issue for every Republican right now in the country. And it should be for every single American.”
Co-host Joy Behar objected to Huntsman using the Obama administration as an example, saying, “None of this happened — I remember when people say, ‘If this was Obama….’ Nothing like this, even remotely close, ever happened in that administration. Completely scandal-free.”
McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain who ran against Obama, burst out laughing.
“Can you name a scandal?” Behar shot at her.
McCain replied, “Yes, but I don’t want to do this with you this morning.”
“I’d like to hear a scandal that was in the Obama administration,” Behar insisted.
“The Iran deal,” McCain responded. “Number one. I mean, billions of dollars in unmarked bills in the middle of the night given to Iran. Yeah, that’s a big scandal.”
McCain was certainly holding back. Shortly before President Trump was elected, Obama made a similar remark to Behar’s, according to the Daily Signal.
Obama said, “Here’s a guy [Trump] who called my administration perhaps the most corrupt in history, despite the fact that actually, we have not had a major scandal in my administration.”
The Signal pointed out nine scandals the Obama administration got embroiled in: the IRS targeting scandal, the Veterans Affairs waiting list, the General Services Administration spending spree, the Benghazi attack, Hillary Clinton’s email server, Fast and Furious, Solyndra solar panels subsidies, alleged voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party, and meddling in the Sestak/Specter congressional race.
