A man attempting to illegally enter the United States broke both his legs attempting to climb over a new 30-foot section of the border wall in California.
Surveillance video from the Border Patrol shows the man falling off the top of the wall and landing hard on the ground below.
Paramedics say that the man broke both legs and also injured his back. The man was taken to a hospital in Palm Springs for treatment.

Border Patrol Spokesman Carlos Pitones says that the US government typically pays for the medical expenses of people injured by crossing the border illegally and deports them after they have recovered.
The international border between the United States and Mexico is the most frequently crossed international border in the world, with around 350 million documented crossings each year.
The total length of the border is 1,954 miles stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean.
An estimated 500,000 people enter the United States illegally each year.
