A few years after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, there were many different ideas of what to do and how to rebuild.

A certain wealthy New York City real estate mogul had an idea of what he wanted to be done.

The year was 2005 and Donald Trump had the idea of rebuilding the twin towers of the World Trade center just like before except one story taller to show the terrorists that America would not back down and would be even better than before.

He also very much opposed the eventual winner, the Freedom Tower, which is now the new dominant structure of the Manhattan skyline.

“If we rebuild the World Trade Center in the form of a skeleton (the Freedom Tower), the terrorists win,” said Trump.

“It doesn’t represent what we want to have represented. What I want to see built is the World Trade Center stronger and maybe a story taller, and that’s what everybody wants,” he continued. “We should have the World Trade Center, bigger and better.”

Now as President of the United States of America, Donald Trump still says the right things regarding that fateful day.

This Tuesday, the 17th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, President Donald Trump gave a speech at the sight of Flight 93’s crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

In the speech, President Trump praised the passengers for their courage and sacrifice for thwarting the hijackers’ plans and crashing into a field instead of some other target.

President Trump’s speech was so well done that even CNN host Poppy Harlow and Senior Political Analyst David Gergen were impressed and praised the president.

Watch what they had to say in the video below:

“Beautifully written, very thoughtful speech by the president. I think easily one of his best speeches,” said Gergen. “For a moment, Poppy, one could almost forget the chaos around us, the acrimony, the poison, and come together.”

“You can only hope the president will navigate that course again, that he will understand that the kind of speech he gave today brings us back together, and helps in that regard,” he continued. “And that if he will take the lead that way, maybe we can find our way to a better place as a nation.”

“Today, all of America wraps up and joins together. We close our arms to help you shoulder your pain and to carry your great, great sorrow,” said President Trump. “Your tears are not shed alone, for they are shared grief with an entire nation.”

“We grieve together for every mother and father, sister and brother, son and daughter, who was stolen from us at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and here in this Pennsylvania field,” he continued. “We honor their sacrifice by pledging to never flinch in the face of evil, and to do whatever it takes to keep America safe.”
