Caitlyn Collins may only be an assistant professor of Sociology and of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, but she’s gotten her name out there by being featured in numerous mainstream media articles.
The sociologist got royally mocked, though, when she decided to go on a Twitter rant after seeing a “men working” construction sign. She tweeted a photo of her glowering face next to sign outside her car window and shared the conversation she had with one of the construction workers over her displeasure with the sign’s message.
“This thread will be great teaching material,” she wrote on Twitter after concluding that the “men working” message was unjustly discouraging women from joining road construction crews.
She was barraged with ridicule after her tweets and ended up making one of her Twitter accounts private.
